About 150 people have died in a powerful earthquake that struck Nepal, wrecking many buildings as reported by CNN News. According to US Geological Survey, the quake measured 7.9 and struck an area between the capital Kathmandu and the city of Pokhara, 

PDP chairman shot dead in Ebonyi

Gunmen suspected to be political thugs in the early hours of Saturday shot and killed Emeka Nworie, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ishielu LGA in Ebonyi state. The late PDP chairman was attacked in his house in Ezzagu in Ishielu LGA and shot severally by his assailants on different parts of his body until he died, the police said. Police spokesperson, Chris Anyanwu, confirmed the incident to our reporter. He said the incident took place at around 3 a.m. in the morning. He said the assailants asked for money, which was generously given to them, yet they proceeded to shoot him to death. Ebonyi State has witnessed politically-motivated killings since last November. Two persons were killed earlier in the week in Ikwo when supporters of PDP and Labout Party clashed.

Ambode Of APC Leads In Lagos Governorship Race

Based on results announced from 55% of polling units across Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading Jimi Agbaje of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by more than 80,000 votes. Figures obtained as at 9.30 p.m. (Nigerian time) revealed that Mr. Ambode had received 325,026 votes as opposed to 240, 467 votes for Mr. Agbaje. The APC and PDP are seen as the main rivals in the race for the Lagos State governorship. Both parties campaigned heavily over the last week in the state that was carried by the APC’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari. Lagos State is Nigeria’s most populous city and has historically been the site of intense opposition politics. The governorship race drew national and international attention a week ago following threatening comments by Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos warning some representatives of Igbo communities that they must support Mr. Ambode or face drowning in the lagoon. INEC cancels poll in Ondo towns over violence

Ondo - The Independent National Electoral Commission in Ondo State has cancelled the House of Assembly election in parts of Ilaje, Ugbo and other parts of the state where polls were disrupted on Saturday. Resident Electoral Commissioner, Olusegun Agbaje, gave the hint as information filtered in that ballot boxes and papers, meant for several units in Ayetoro and Ugbo Ward 2, were snatched by armed men.
