The Niger state government has advised people in the riverine communities of the state to move to the upland to avoid being caught up by flood.
Government’s advice followed increase in the tempo of rainfall in most part of the state and the warning by the Nigerian Metrological Center that the state was among the 26 states to witness flood this rainy season.
The statement made available to newsmen in Minna and signed by the commissioner of information, Mr Jonathan Vatsa stated that the warning had become necessary because the administration could not watch its people lose their lives and property as a result of the flash flood.
