Flood Alert: Niger State Govt orders riverine people to relocate
The Niger state government has advised people in the riverine
communities of the state to move to the upland to avoid being caught up
by flood.
Government’s advice followed increase in the tempo of rainfall in most
part of the state and the warning by the Nigerian Metrological Center
that the state was among the 26 states to witness flood this rainy
season.
The statement made available to newsmen in Minna and signed by the
commissioner of information, Mr Jonathan Vatsa stated that the warning
had become necessary because the administration could not watch its
people lose their lives and property as a result of the flash flood.
