Federal Government approves N2billion for Federal Maritime University takeoff in Delta | FOB News

The Federal Government has approved the release of 2Billion Naira for the smooth takeoff of academic activities at the Nigeria Maritime University, Okenrenkoko in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo disclosed this during the Opening of the 2nd National Council of Niger Delta holding in Ondo State.

Osinbanjo who was accompanied by State Governors and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs to the event stated that the process for prompt release of N2B take-off grant for the Maritime University, Delta State has been initiated.

The 8th Senate had on Thursday, 4th of May, 2017, passed the bill for the establishment of Nigerian Maritime University in Delta State. The bill was sponsored by Senator James Manager of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Delta State.

The groundbreaking of the proposed school at Okerenkoko in Warri south-West local government area was done by former President, Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 and, according to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, physical assets were on site.
