The cold booting process of a computer system is the sequence of the procedures before you can use the system and you are either using a desktop or laptop system.

- Put on the power supply
- Press the CPU power button
- Put on the monitor
- Allow the system to boot its operating system into memory and get the system ready for use.
- Input password if the system is password protected
- After booting, you are expected to see the computer desktop where you can mouse over installed applications.

- Press the power button on the system.
- Allow the system to boot its operating system into memory.
- Input password (if any)
- Scroll to see installed applications if using Windows 8 or 10
- Use the Windows key to select installed programmed if using Windows 7 or XP.
