The cold booting process of a computer system is the sequence of the procedures before you can use the system and you are either using a desktop or laptop system.


Cold Booting Process Using a Desktop

  1. Put on the power supply
  2. Press the CPU power button
  3. Put on the monitor
  4. Allow the system to boot its operating system into memory and get the system ready for use.
  5. Input password if the system is password protected
  6. After booting, you are expected to see the computer desktop where you can mouse over installed applications.

Cold Booting Process Using a Laptop

  1. Press the power button on the system.
  2. Allow the system to boot its operating system into memory.
  3. Input password (if any)
  4. Scroll to see installed applications if using Windows 8 or 10
  5. Use the Windows key to select installed programmed if using Windows 7 or XP.
