Senator Lawan Calls for Stiffer Punishment for Rapist in Nigeria

The President of the Nigeria Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan has reacted to the increase number of rape cases across the country and calls for stiffer punishment for rapist.

This was as a result of the multiples cases of rapes that evolved the nation's last year, ranging from Tina in Lagos and Vera Omozuwa in Edo.

Dr. Lawan made the call in his concluding remarks on a motion considered to condemn the increasing cases of rape and brutality against the girl child in Nigeria in particular and women in general.
