Dino Melaye Biography, Net worth and Career Profile
Dino Melaye is a Nigerian politician who representing Kogi West Senatorial district in the 8th National Assembly as a Senator, born on 7 January 1974.
Dino hailed Ayetoro Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State. He was born in Kano state – Nigeria.
He attended Abdulaziz Attah Memorial College, Okene for his secondary school education. He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he studied geography in 2000.
Dino was an active member of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), African Youth Council and the Commonwealth Youth Council, where he served as executive member.
Politically, Dino decamped to the People's Democratic Party in 2015 where he was re-elected as a member of the House of Representatives representing Kabba/Ijumu federal constituency. In the 2015 Senatorial election he was elected a member of the Senate of Nigeria from the Kogi-West.
He seconded the nomination of Senator Bukola Saraki as candidate for the office of President of the Senate following a nomination made by Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima.
In 2019, Senator Dino lost his re-election bid to Senator Smart Adeyemi, a candidate of Governor Yahaya Bello.
In 2019, Dino also lost his governorship ambition during the party primary election to Engr Musa Wada.
Dino Melaye sponsored about 20 bills and moved over 30 motions in the 8th National Assembly. One of such bills is "A Bill for an Act to provide for the Establishment of a Federal University of Agriculture, Kabba.
Other bills sponsored by Dino which include: "A Bill for the prohibition of persons from lynching, mob action and extrajudicial executions, the disability integration bill and protection against domestic violence act.
Dino has faced several political controversies and scandals bordering around money laundering and violation of Nigeria law as reported by Wikipedia.
Senator Dino divorced Tokunbo Melaye after ten years of marriage, due to domestic violence related case. Tokunbo had three children with Dino.
Dino has authored book titled Antidotes for Corruption: The Nigerian Story in May 2016.
Dino has received several awards and recognitions across Nigeria by various organisations and at the international level.
