CBN Deadline for Use of Old N200, N500 & N1000 Bank Notes

CBN
The Central of Nigeria, CBN has fixed 31 January, 2023 as the deadline for the use of the old N200, N500 and N1000 bank notes.

FOB Article  - the new currency bank notes of N200, N500 and N1000 are now in circulation, but much more, the old notes are still in circulation and the rate conversion is currently affecting the common man in the street.

Thee are protest around the villages and markets and many have stop collecting the old bank notes of N200, N500 and N1000.

What are the people saying? Nigerians need more time for them to return their old bank notes to the bank/agents and exchange for the new ones.

House of Representative and Godwin Emefiele

The Nigerian lower chamber of the National Assembly, the House of Reps in their last plenary made statement regarding the bench warrant against the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria for not heeding for their invitation and subsequent extension of  time on the deadline for the use of the old bank notes of N200, N500 and N1000.

Many Nigerians are factual and watching the game between the CBN Governor and the House of Reps on the deadline and extension demand and warrant of arrest.

According to Ben Murray-Bruce statement on Twitter

The bench warrant issued by the House of Representatives against the Governor of the CBN is not only unwarranted, but coming after yesterday’s threats against him, it is looking more like the voice of Jacob, but the hand of Esau. Nothing, absolutely nothing must derail the election.

2023 Nigerian Presidential/National Assembly Election

Nigerians are most concerned for a peaceful election scheduled on 25 February  2023 void of thuggery and vote buying; if the CBN directive will secure and bring about the needed change before the General Elections, then it is a welcomed development.

At the moment Nigerians are battling with two major issues; old bank notes deadline and fuel scarcity, just one month to the Presidential and National Assembly Election as scheduled by the country election umpire, INEC.
