Kebbi state, the land of equity was created in 1991 comprising of 21 LGAs with a population of 5.5 million people (2021). 

It is located in North East geopolitical zone of Nigeria and its capital is Birnin Kebbi.

History

Muhammadu Kanta was named as the founder of the Kebbi kingdom;  who subsequently incorporated into Kebbi, one of the banza bakwai (the seven illegitimate Hausa states), which over what is now northwestern Nigeria and southwest.

Ethnic Groups

Kebbi State has diverse ethnic groups, the dominant among which are Hausas, Fulanis, Kabawa, Dakarkaris, Kambaris,Gungawa, Dandawa, Zabarmawa, Dukawa, Fakkawa and Bangawa. These ethnic groups speak diverse languages and dialects, with the Hausa Language spoken all over the state.tern Niger.
