Katsina State is a North Eastern Nigeria state created in 1987and it share borders with Kaduna, Zamfara, Kano, and Jigawa States.

The state is nicknamed the "Home of Hospitality", both the state capital and the town of Daura have been described "ancient seats of Islamic culture and learning" in Nigeria.

Katsina was founded by Kumayo and before the Fulani conquest had been an important seat of learning and a commercial centre of the trans-Saharan Trade. It provided one of the earliest education centres of the north.

The major tribes in the State are Hausa and Fulani and Islam is the predominant religion. Languages spoken in the State are Hausa and Fulfulde.
