Emefiele Suspension is not a Surprise, but DSS - Agbakoba

Former NBA President and Human Right lawyer, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba SAN has made a glaring statement on the suspended governor of the CBN and the shocking role of the DSS.

From the rule of law, the role of the Department of State Security (DSS) is internal security and the suspension of Mr. Godwin Emefiele as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is not a surprise, because his tenure is way beyond monetary policy.

The legal luminary made the statement through his Twitter handle and it reads.

The suspension of the Governor of CBN from office is not a surprise as his tenure was way beyond monetary policy.   

But confirmation by DSS that Governor Emefiele is in its custody comes as a shock. The statutory role of DSS is internal security and I shudder to think what role DSS will play in this matter.   

The rule of law says it all. Can the relevant agency responsible for Governor Emefiele step forward but this excludes the DSS unless this has security implications.
