President Tinubu Suspends NNPC GMD, Mele Kyari

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, Mele Kyari with immediate effect.

Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu has suspended Mele Kyari, the GCEO of the National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Mele Kyari suspensions is coming barely 24 hours after the suspension of the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

The Audit report submitted by the Auditor General of the Federation indicted the NNPC of misappropriation of crude oil revenue from the Federation account between 2015 and 2019 paid as fuel subsidy.

According to statement released by the Presidential spokesman, Alaka, says the suspension of the GCEO of the National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, is with immediate effect in an effort to thoroughly investigate missing crude oil revenue as reported by SERAP last week.


SERAP report reads in part

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged Nigeria's President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to setup a probe panel into the alleged US$2.1 billion and N3.1 trillion  fuel subsidy payment missing and unaccounted for between 2016 and 2019.
