Tinubu Unveils Palliative Plan of N48,000 for 12m Families
Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu has roll out palliative measure to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal for 12 million families.
In Nigeria, twelve million families are to benefits from President Tinubu's palliative action plan as an alternative measure to reduce the hunger in many homes.
The President stated this in a letter addressed to the House of Representatives seeking approval for N500 billion to support vulnerable and poor Nigerians cope with meeting basic needs.
The President has said 12m families will get N8, 000 over a period of six months to ameliorate the hardships faced by Nigerians as a result of fuel subsidy removal, that is N48,000 for each family.
The letter was for approval of additional financing for the national social safety net programme scaled up by the National Assembly.
He said this would have a multiplier effect on about 60 million individuals.
In order to guarantee the credibility of the process, he said digital transfers would be made directly to beneficiaries accounts.
It is hopeful that the President palliative action plan to support poor and vulnerable Nigerians will meet its primary purpose, if implemented judiciously.
