Fear Grips Abuja Residents as Wike Unveils Plan to Demolish Houses
The residents of Abuja, Nigeria capital laments as Nyesom Wike assumed office as new FCT minister after inauguration on Monday.
Former Rivers state governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike has assumed office as the new minIster of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja after inauguration presided over by President Bola Tinubu.
Shortly after inauguration, Wike made it clear to the public, especial FCT residents that it is not going to be business as usual.
That any structure that is not inline with the FCT master plan will be demolish, and any land allocated, but yet to be developed in the city master plan will be re-allocated to those who are ready to develop.
Currently, there are about 6,000 satellite locations that are not in line with the master plan, but being occupied by thousands of people.
He also plan to stop the movement of cows in the city capital by herdsmen and other unwanted practices in the beautiful city of Abuja.
The city of Abuja has witnessed several cases of demolition during former President Obasanjo regime, when Nasir El-Rufai was the FCT minister.
Residents are afraid of experiencing such magnitude of demolition, where families and businesses will be lost overnight, with no means of livelihood.
