Five lives had been lost and over 40 others injured as multi-storey collapses in Garki Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, few days as Wike assumed office as FCT Minister.

This is the first tragedy to be recorded as Barrister Wike assumed office as Minister of FCT, on Monday 21st August after inauguration by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Excavation and rescue operation is still ongoing at a collapsed building at Lagos street of Garki 2 Abuja.

The rescue team of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA has been on ground as investigation into the main cause of the building that collapsed continue.

Official information regarding the cause of the unfortunate incident is yet to be released. As the moment officials of FCT Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, Fire Service, FRSC are putting efforts together to ensure the rescue and evacuation of more persons trapped under the collapsed building.

Meanwhile, Chief Nyesom Wike is determined to restructured the Federal Capital, Abuja as he plans to revive the rail mass transit project.

New FCT Minister set to revive the Abuja rail mass transit. Few days after assuming office as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr Nyesom Wike has revealed plans by the Federal Capital Territory Authority to restart the Abuja Rail Mass Transit. Speaking after an assessment of the rail terminal, the Honourable Minister disclosed that the Rail Mass Transit system will be completed and commissioned in a few months as it is instrumental in reducing traffic congestion in the city. Wike revealed that funds for the rehabilitation and start of the Rail system has been made available as he assured that projects of this nature would not be abandoned. He was accompanied by the Hon Minster of State of the FCT, Hon Mairiga Mahmud.
