UK Police Charges Former Nigerian Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke with Bribery

Former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum and Ex-OPEC president, Diezani Alison-Madueke has been charged with bribery by the UK police.


British police said on Tuesday they had charged Diezani Alison-Madueke with bribery offences, saying they suspected she had accepted bribes in return for awarding multi-million-pound oil and gas contracts. 

The statement released by Andy Kelly,  the head of the National Crime Agency’s International CorruptiOn Unit reads

“We suspect Diezani Alison-Madueke abused her power in Nigeria and accepted financial rewards for awarding multi-million-pound contracts,” Andy Kelly said.
Recall that Diezani Alison-Madueke served as Minister of Petroleum to former President, Goodluck Jonathan between 2011 and 2015, and she has been in exile since 2015 for fear of prosecution.
