Tinubu Set to Complete Payment of Npower Arrears


Nigeria President, Bola Tinubu set to complete payment of Npower arrears of 2022 beneficiaries through the ministry of humanitarian and poverty reduction.

The payment of npower beneficiary arrears was put on hold after the suspension of the honourable minister, Betta Edu in January 2024, due to financial misappropriation in the ministry.

The “Renewed Hope Agenda” of the present administration has reconsidered the need to pay-off all understanding arrears from 2022 till date to pave way for another empowerment programme.

Recall that the Npower programme was initiated in 2016 by the Buhari administration and it empowered several Nigerians from batch A to C.

The Npower programme was an empowerment scheme that engages young Nigerians in different areas and were receiving month stipends of N30000 per beneficiary.

The stream 2 beneficiaries of the last batch (C) were denied full payment of the stipends due to untold financial misappropriation. Some beneficiaries were paid October – December 2022 stipends, that is 3 months out of the one year empowerment programme. The nine months arrears are still outstanding, awaiting final payment by the Tinubu government.

The APC-led government has promised to complete the outstanding payment of nine months within the current year.

After successful investigation, the nine months arrears of the batch c npower beneficiaries will be paid as promised by the President. The payment of npower arrears kick-off after investigation is completed.

Also, the Tinubu led government is set to unfold the Renewed Hope Empowerment programme through the ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty Reduction.
