Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of Nigeria has been honoured with honorary degree of Doctor of Letters by Oxford University, England.

The Director General of World Trade Organisation, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of Nigeria has been honoured by Oxford University, England with an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (D.litt. honoris causa).

The ceremony was performed at Sheldonian Theatre with Chancellor, Lord Christopher; Vice Chancellor, Dr Irene Trace; her husband, Dr. Iweala and her daughter, Dr. Onyi Iweala.

She wrote on X to congratulate the chancellor, vice chancellor, other honorands, her husband and daughter.

A great honor to be recognised today by Oxford University with the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (D.litt. honoris causa). A marvellous ceremony at the Sheldonian Theatre followed by receptions at All Souls and St Johns Colleges. With Chancellor Lord Christopher Patten and Vice Chancellor Dr Irene Tracey and the other 5 Honorands- Sir Michael Palin, Warren East, Sir @demishassabis, Professor Salim Yusuf, and @ShankarAnoushka

Dr. Ngozi recently celebrated her 70th birthday on June 13 2024 at the WTO headquarters.

She hailed from Delta state Nigeria and served in Nigeria as two times finance minister.

Congratulations on this milestone achievement, and being one of the top 100 most influential women in the world, according to Forbes 2023.
