The National Population Commission, NPC has announced new date for the conduct of the 2023 Populational and Housing Census after temporary suspension by President Bola Tinubu.

Census officials activities work plan for optimum result ahead of the 2023 Population and Housing Census (phc). The work plan is a schedule of activities for the entire census period.

The three main stages in the population and housing census exercise is building numbering, household listing and enumeration of persons.

CAPI stands for Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing. CAPI is a tablet or Ipad made for enumerators for administering census questionnaires during population and housing census.

Census functionaries need to have the basic knowledge of maps, its interpretations and how to use maps to identify enumeration areas and fetch EA frame before commencement of census exercise.

The basic census concepts and terms including population census, housing census, census night, locality, building, household, enumeration area, questionnaire, de-facto census, place of usual residence, literacy, post enumeration and difficulties in performing activities.

Census functionaries are to use the document retrieval form to return the various materials and instruments used during enumeration to the supervisor for clearance and payment processing.  The transmittal form is also known as Document Retrieval form - NPC06. There are other available NPC forms for the purpose of census activities in Nigeria. Uses of Census Transmittal Forms Enumerators are expected to return the following materials to their respective supervisors at the end of the census exercise using the transmittal or document retrieval forms. Note:  Enumerators will be required to filled and signed all necessary forms for clearance. The supervisor will hand over these materials to the field coordinator, who in turn gives it to  the state coordinator for clearance. Don't use the census instruments and materials for personal use. Field Coordinators are census functionaries saddled with various duties and responsibilities for effective and accurate capturing of data.
